Graduation Requirements
Class of 2010, 2011, and 2012
NOTES:
* All students must take and pass the Gateway Mathematics Exam (Given with Algebra I or Algebra IB), the Gateway English Exam (Given with English II), and the Gateway Science
Exam (Given with Biology I) in order to graduate.
* Students that have at least a 3.5 GPA are classified as an Honor Graduate. Students with atleast a 3.5 GPA and at least 10 honors credits are classified as a Highest Distinction Honor
Graduate. If the honors credits are taken 2 as a Freshman, 2 as a Sophomore, 3 as a Junior,
and 3 as a Senior, then the student will be classified as a Raider Scholar.
* Students that meet the requirements of both the Career and Technical and University Paths are classified as Dual Path.
* Guidance Counselors are available to help you in developing and modifying your 6-year plan.
GRADUATION PATHS:
CAREER AND TECHNICAL PATH
English – 4 credits (English I-IV or equivalent)
Mathematics – 3 credits (Must include Algebra I and Geometry)
Science – 3 credits (Must include Biology I and either Physical Science, Basic Chemistry,
Chemistry I, Basic Physics, or Physics)
Social Science – 3 credits (Student’s choice of Ancient World History, Modern World History, or World Geography along with American History and Economics/American Government)
Career and Technical Education – 4 credits (One must be chosen from Introduction to
Information Technology, Introduction to Engineering, or Introduction to Business Technology and the 3 remaining credits must be from a single area)
Wellness – 1 credit
Electives – 10 credits
Total: 28 credits
UNIVERSITY PATH
English – 4 credits (English I-IV or equivalent)
Mathematics – 4 credits (Must include Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II) (Algebra I taken at Cleveland Middle School does not count toward the 4th credit) (The 4th credit MUST be taken during the Senior Year, unless written approval is obtained from Guidance)
Science – 4 credits (Must include Biology I and either Physical Science, Basic Chemistry,
Chemistry I, or Physics) (The 3rd and 4th credits must be above Biology I) (Certain Career and Technical Education courses can count as the 4th credit. Check the Course Description for details)(The 4th credit MUST be taken during the Senior Year, unless written approval is obtained from Guidance) (Class of 2009 DOES NOT need the 4th credit)
Social Science – 3 credits (Student’s choice of Ancient World History, Modern World History, or World Geography along with American History and Economics/American Government)
Foreign Language – 2 credits (Must be in the same language) (Native speakers can test for
credit(s) through Guidance)
Career and Technical Education – 2 credits (One must be chosen from Introduction to Information Technology, Introduction to Engineering, or Introduction to Business Technology)
Fine Arts – 1 credit
Wellness – 1 credit
Electives – 7 credits
Total: 28 credits
